Did Rockstar Make A Mistake By Killing Off John Marston?

We cannot get enough of Red Dead Redemption. So much that after all this time we are still playing it. The game is simply a masterpiece.

To us he is easily one of the best video game characters ever made. Sure he isn't a complete saint but that's one reason why we love the character so much.

Now that it has been months since the launch of the game we feel it is not so much of a spoiler to reveal that Rockstar killed John off in the end of Red Dead Redemption.

With the huge popularity of the game, it eventually led to a spin-off in the Undead Nightmare. (Awesome by the way) A game where people could once again play as John Marston. Was the spin-off enough to satisfy the people who wanted to continue their cowboy adventures as John Marston? Or did Rockstar make a mistake by killing him off?

Depending on whom you ask people are on both sides of the argument. We also admit we were not happy to see him go. However we are such huge fans of Rockstar games we have faith that it was the right decision. Before Undead we never thought we'd be able to play as John again. We were wrong. Could John appear in later Rockstar games? We hope so.

Even if John never makes another appearance we feel his unforgettable character ill forever live within gamers and fans of Red Dead Redemption.  Yee Haw!

We were going to end the blog entry there.  However we came across a picture.  It is a real grave from a man named John Marston.  Coincidence???  Prolly not but the picture is still awesome.

Random COD Black Ops Video

Playing we captured a gaming moment that a replay does no justice.  However when this actually happened it was beyond epic.  Shooting a Valkyrie missile, we landed one through a window killing three people.  The third person is out of view, but according to the score we got off it, not to mention the stats on the bottom left you can tell a 3rd person was in fact killed.  Enjoy.

Another PS3 Update And Still No Cross Chat

**Sigh** I awoke this morning and noticed that my PS3 did not sign into PSN automatically like it normally does.  After looking it said I needed to update the system.  Ahhhh yes.  I had read the night prior about the PS3 mandatory update that was now online.

With every passing update I long for what a lot of people yearn for when it comes to the PS3.  CROSS GAME CHAT!

Playstation is well aware that people want this feature and yet they have not given it to us.  Why?  Today's update was a simple security update to combat piracy.  That is fine, we can respect that.  Having said that only further brings the question of why they have not given us this highly demanded feature.

If you look at todays update it was all about taking measures to get rid of ps3 piracy.  PS3 piracy did not surface until early 2010.  Sure it took a few months but eventually they had a security update to control it.  So as you can see they are on top of what the PS3 actually needs.  Again, they have known that this is a feature that is wanted by the users for years and have done nothing to bring it to the forefront.  Why?

Surely this feature would only bring the PS3 much more satisfied customers.  I alongside many of PSN users have online friends we would like to communicate with.  Not everyone wants to go to a chatroom (where we can do nothing else) and chat online.

The Xbox 360 version of this feature is highly valuable and is used by millions of gamers every single day.  Some people would argue that this feature alone separates the consoles with the 360 coming out on top.

I love the PS3 but without this feature, they can never expect to completely overtake the 360 in the eyes of the fans/consumers.  GIVE US OUR CROSS GAME CHAT!!!!

Kevin Butler Needs To Host SNL

You know the man, they myth, the legend Kevin Butler. He has dozens of playstation commercials promoting different aspects of the PS3 and other playstation services.

Did you hear about the guy from Texas who went on facebook and promoted for months early on in 2010 that he wanted Betty White to host SNL?

Guess what... it worked.  He got thousands of people to support his idea and it eventually his plan to get Betty White to host SNL became a reality.

Join our cause on facebook at http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Get-Kevin-Butler-To-Host-SNL/174854885876155

We are huge fan of the Playstation Kevin Butler commercials.  We think Kevin Butler is hilarious.  We think we should do the same for him and rally to get him to host SNL.  Let's get together until we get enough support to get Kevin Butler to host SNL.  Oh... that is whenever he decides to move out of the Maguire house.  #KBMovesIn

Gamestop Promises To Deliver Before Christmas

Just in time for the holidays Gamestop comes through.  Known for great deals Gamestop has a promotion going on that offers free shipping and a guaranteed delivery before December 24th.

In 2010 we are living dab smack in the middle of the digital age.  More and more consumers are doing their shopping online.  The thought of doing Christmas shopping from the comfort of their living room beats the enormous hassle of going out to the mall or department stores.

With the gaming industry being a multi-billion dollar industry, it is obvious Christmas time is the companies busiest time of year.  What gamer wouldn't love a new game, a Gamestop gift card, or a new console for Christmas?  I certainly cannot think of one.

Not only are purchased guaranteed to be delivered before Christmas, they are also including free shipping in their promotion.  Something I'm sure every Christmas shopper can appreciate.  Great job Gamestop.

How We Really Feel About Sega

For those of my age group, Sega played a huge part of my childhood and most likely played apart of yours.  I loved it.  I loved the consoles, I loved the games, hell I even loved the opening logo and sounder that played when you turned a game on.

I remember growing up we would spend countless hours in front of the television playing some sort of Sega console.  Just about everyone had one.  Literally, no matter which of my friends house I would go to they would always a Sega console ready to play.

Fast forward to 2010.  What happened?  It was as if they were a powerhouse company in the 90’s.  What changed?  The Master system was awesome,  the genesis was revolutionary, the Sega-CD didn’t get the respect it deserved, the Saturn was great, and the Dreamcast was unforgettable.

Today the company is still around but in my opinion not as popular as they were in the days when they made gaming consoles.  How did they fall from one of the front running gaming companies to mediocrity?

I’m sure there are a lot of reasons why Sega doesn’t make consoles anymore.  However the fans of the golden days of Sega must have all thought about the “what-if’s” of a Sega console on par with that of the PS3 and the Xbox 360.

I personally love the Sega company.  In fact, recently they were courteous enough to send me a prize that I won off twitter. (Every Friday they give away prizes off their twitter page @Sega)

I would like to point out that I am someone who would pay money for a Sega console if in fact one came out to go against the PS3, 360, and the Wii.  I know for a fact that I am not alone either.  There are plenty of Sega fan boys who feel the same.  So please… BRING US BACK TO THE GOOD OL’ DAYS!!!  WE WANT A NEW CONSOLE!!!

Those Damn Campers

Any fan of 1st person shooters are well aware of a certain type of player.  A player that can ruin a good killstreak, a kill to death ratio, or the overall mood of the game.  I'm am talking about "Those Damn Campers".

Camper: Noun: A person who hides in a 1st person shooter and waits for someone to walk by so they can kill them.

I cannot tell you how many online matches I have been in where people complain about people camping when the match is over.  Some would argue that (like the picture above) it is a legitimate strategy.

In a real war camping would be essential since in real life you get no respawn.  In real life all you get is one life.  However in an online match where you get an unlimited amount of lives the more experienced players who run and gun tend to see this tactic as beneath them.  I too have had my frustration with people who do this.

One thing I have learned over the years there will always be those players who feel the need to hide instead of run and gun for numerous reasons.  It could be that they want a good kill to death ratio, or maybe they are not a good enough player to run and gun with the more experienced shooters, or feel like it's a strategy that will get them kills regardless how those kills were attained.

I have learned that as 1st person shooters become more and more popular, that "camping" is here to stay and is a tactic that will always be around.  It has indirectly become apart of the game weather you like it or not.

Having said all that it brings up the issue of why people still take the time to get upset over people who play like this.

People are not going to stop doing this so the only thing complaining about it does is annoy the other players who have to hear people ranting about it.  My advice would be is if you get killed by a camper just let it go.  If you feel the need to have to kill that player, flank them or react in a way where you can get your revenge.  Complaining about it gets old.

There is one type of camper that breaks a golden rule of online gaming etiquette.  That would be what gamers call the "Spawn Camper".

Spawn Camper: Noun: A person who hides in the enemy respawn area to get quick easy kills.

Almost nothing is as frustrating as getting killed in an online match, respawning, and getting immediately killed again by a spawn camper.  To me, that is a cheap way to play.  Not giving the other player a chance to respond or even know that the enemy is there is not a fair way to play.

There is just something about not giving another player any sort of chance to react is just wrong.  But just like regular camping is has become apart of the game and is not going to go away.  In fact, it proves a difficult issue to resolve to game developers.  There is literally no way to combat it in the eyes of the developers.  Just know that spawn camping isn't good gaming etiquette.

No matter how much you play you are almost for sure to come across people who play this way.  No matter how much you cry about how much they killed you it is irrelevant.  Sorry, but to be blunt the best and only thing I can tell the complainers is to get over it.
